As an additional Grough-Stuff service, I am now offering you the opportunity to hire my KHS Tandemania Milano Tandem. This bike is a fantastic machine. It's a lightweight road rocket and perfect for touring the Peak District or further afield.
KHS Tandemania Milano
You can hire my tandem for half day (4 hrs) or full days (8 hrs) or even on a multi-day basis. This bike would be perfect for a touring holiday, be it for a weekend away or multi-week adventure. It has a wide spread of gears so you will be able to climb the steepest hill or blast down a mountain pass at breakneck speed in total confidence.
Tandems are great fun and easier to ride than you might imagine. The rider at the front ("The Captain") is responsible for steering & braking and for issuing instructions to the rider on the rear ("The Stoker"). The "Stoker's" main duty is to pedal and just enjoy the passing scenery. With a male/female combination, it is usually the man on the front and lady on the rear due to the frame geometry. This bike has a medium/small frame, perfect for front rider of around 5'10" and rear rider of around 5'4". Obviously, by changing seat & handlebar heights, it will accomodate most people within reason.
Where to Ride
I can provide details of a number of local routes, some of which are totally car-free. Being based on the edge of the Peak District National Park, beautiful routes are literally on my doorstep. Obviously, being called "The Peak District", you can expect to have to deal with a few hills. Alternatively, by heading West, you can very quickly get into the relatively flat "Cheshire Plains". I am lucky to be situated in an area that is a cyclists dream!
Prices and Safety Stuff
To be paid on collection:-
Tandem Hire:-
Half Day = £30
Full Day = £60
Weekend = £100
Week = £200
Sundries:-
Roof Rack Hire* = £10/day
Pannier Hire = £5/day
Bob Yak Trailer = £20/day
A £200 deposit is required when you collect the bike. This is refundable in full upon the safe return of the tandem. If you are unlucky enough to damage the tandem (other then normal wear and tear) you will be charged a reasonable amount to bring the bike back to its original condition. This will be completed by a local cycle shop and receipted. Before hiring, I will also need to see some form of photographic ID from you (Eg. Passport, Driving Licence, etc).
It is highly recommended that Riders take out their own personal accident/injury insurance before hiring the tandem. Grough-Stuff Walks cannot be held responsible or liable for any claims arising as a result of your negligence whilst riding the tandem.
On request and subject to my availability, I can offer a pick up/drop off service for the tandem and sundries. I charge £1 per mile for this service.
On collection of the Tandem, you will be issued with a toolkit and instructions for making basic adjustments and fixing simple faults (eg. punctures, seat height, etc).
